January 2022 Greater Edmonton Real Estate Activity

If you were selling a home in Edmonton, then January 2022 was a particularly good month for you!  It was a busy month with more single-family homes sold than there were in January of the previous 5 years. We also saw the average selling price in Edmonton go up 3.3% from this time last year.

With ‘inventory’ (the number of homes available for sale) also at a 5-year low, the January market continued to tip in favour of home sellers.

Why is Edmonton experiencing such a robust real estate market? The pandemic has caused most people to forgo travelling and spend more time at home. With increasing numbers of people working from home, loving the homes they are in matters now more than ever. Add in low mortgage interest rates and you have set the scene for an active real estate market.
